 Meagan's Musings... A Blog
Saturday, July 24 2010

To a certain someone up there on the Sunshine Coast (let's call her my Mum-Stand-In), ok I admit, yes I do need more sleep!  But seriously, who doesn't?  Sleep is highly overrated.  I have said that many times over the last few decades and I'm sure I'll be saying it for many more to come.  Less than perfect influences from my mother are to blame - ever the night-owl.

ANYWAY:  big events in the history of Keep it Unique Keepsakes... we are putting a Bonus Rewards Points System in place for you loyal shoppers out there - yay!  Buy now (well not quite now, but soon) and get discounts on your future purchases!  It's token gesture to say thank you for supporting us this far, for being there to give moral support and for cheering us on from the sidelines.  Trust me, the encouragement has been just the best.  It's not all in place yet, but I'll post again when it is, with a link as to how to set it up in your account!

Second on the list is a quick mention about NAME NECKLACES.  We have new ones on board and yet still more coming soon.  Perfect gifts for the special girls in your life - check them out now!

The demand for our gorgeous  personalised 3D Paper Art is growing and growing... get in quick while the prices are still low... paper butterflies, paper stars, paper hearts, paper ballerinas - you name it, we can do it.  Just email us with your requests!

Last but not least,  GOLD personalised jewellery is another exciting event just around the corner (definitely in time for Christmas!), so stay tuned... infact why not join our mailing list - it will keep you up to date and once you've plugged in your email address you'll receive an immediate first-order discount!

It's ni-night and sweet dreams from me :-)

Another birthday.  Another year wiser - apparently!  It has been such a wonderful week with Mum here.  She she waltzed in the door and as she put her SuperNan hat on, I was able to retire my Motherhood hat somewhat.  I had lie-ins, showers with no interruptions, mending done, dishes washed, hungry mouths fed, earth-loving little bodies bathed, same bodies bed-time storied.... I could go on but I don't want to make you feel ill!

My birthday felt like it was spread over four days.  I received beautiful cards, messages and gifts from the incredible people nearest and dearest to me.

You know, it really gave me a chance to sit back and take stock of all that is truly good in my life.  I look at my two little men who recently have only just started to play happily together outside in the backyard.  Every day it amazes me the conversations I can now have with my nearly 3-year-old.  When he exclaimed in the car on the way to Dreamworld, "Nana, I excited!", my heart simply melted.  Six months ago his only words were mum, dad and no.  His younger brother has the giggly, gorgeous temperament I dared only dream about.

This afternoon my Older Man and I were lucky to share some precious couple time alone the way we used to pre-child: dining out.  A few alcoholic beverages, delicious food and a table in the sun on a glorious Winter's day, over-looking water.  Heaven.

Eventually we had to come back down to earth enough to return an exhausted SuperNan to the airport for her return flight to home and holiday.  Once again, we miss her already.

Tonight the neighbours appear to have a new surround sound system and their lounge happens to face our boys' bedroom windows.  Payback for all those nights and early mornings we kept them awake for hours on end with screaming babies and tantruming toddlers?  I believe it to be!  But you know what?  Im so filled with happiness and positivity at the moment, I don't care!

With love

My best friend is pregnant and three weeks off her due date.  There is a group of us - some mothers, some not - getting together this weekend to celebrate my friend and her soon-to be-new-baby.  Being one of the organisers of the afternoon, I decided to make it more of a "blessing" ritual as opposed to the typical "shower".  It isn't her first baby and she had this thing about not wanting to appear greedy!

So here I am online, hunting around for some inspirational words to create my friend and her baby the Perfect Blessing.  I just stumbled on this poem and had to share:

Just For This Day
~Sally Meyer~

Just for this morning
I am going to smile when I see your face, and laugh when I
feel like crying.

Just for this morning
I will let you wake up softly in your flannel p.j.'s and
hold you until you are ready to stir.

Just for this morning,
I will let you choose what you want to wear, and I will say
how beautiful you are.

Just for this morning
I will step over the laundry to pick you up, and take you
to the park to play.

Just for this morning
I will leave the dishes in the sink, and let you teach me
how to put your puzzle together.

Just for this afternoon
I will unplug the telephone and keep the computer off, and
sit with you in the garden
blowing bubbles.

Just for this afternoon
I will not yell once, not even a tiny grumble when you
scream and whine for the ice cream truck
and I will buy you one, if he comes by.

Just for this afternoon
I wont worry about what you are going to be when you grow up,
I will simply love you, for the joy you bring me.

Just for this afternoon,
I will let you help me make cookies,
and I wont stand over you. . . trying to 'fix things.

Just for this afternoon,
I will take you to McDonalds and buy us both a 'Happy Meal'
So you can have two toys.

Just for this evening,
I will hold you in my arms and tell you the story of how you
were born, and how much we love you.

Just for this evening,
I will let you splash in the bathtub,
and I wont get angry when you pour water over your sisters head.

Just for this evening
I will let you stay up late, while we sit on the porch swing
and count all the stars.

Just for this evening
I will bring you glasses of water,
and snuggle beside you for hours, and miss my favorite t.v. show.

Just for this evening
when I kneel down to pray, I will simply be grateful for all that I have,
and not ask for anything,
Just one more day.

Wow, that is powerful - perhaps because it hit home.  Food for thought and a definite reality check.

My baby boys, I love you so much.

Welcome to a brand new month, a brand new financial year (for all the Aussies reading this) and some brand new products!

new products jun jul 2010

Ok, so they're a few weeks old now, I've just been slack at the blog update - as usual!  But without further ado, please let me introduce....

Framed 3D Paper Art, so delicate, so pretty!  These gorgeous gifts are multi-skilled and may be personalised to suit a number of occasions; new baby arrival, christenings, engagements, weddings, anniversaries...  Mother's Day...birthdays... or they make the perfect memorial/remembrance gift at a time when so little is able to comfort.

Sterling Silver Hand Stamped Teardrop Pendant - the second addition to our new Hand Stamped category.  This design, with it's teardrop shape and butterfly crystal, has been created to honour the precious little angels no longer with us.  Stamp their names, dates or a meaningful word or two onto the pendant and feel their love within us for always.

A newbie to our popular Name Necklace range - the sterling silver Name Necklace with a Butterfly!  Gosh it's butterflies all round this month isn't it?!  I only just noticed - perhaps there is a message in here somewhere??

Wishing everyone a fabulous Fri.
